OK, I too have seen the movie, and LOL a lot! I thought your ‘review’ of the movie was great and have used some of your material when talking with friends about the movie!
Has anybody really watched Sideways? I believe the nascent demand for wine culture incorporated in movies is two-fold. While movies are a great form of media in terms of marketing an idea and conditioning potential customers, we have to be careful about which image we are conveying to the public. Is the image of the average wine drinker that we want to portray a constant drunk, pathetic and depressed, a.k.a. Miles? Or one of a washed up actor who uses alcohol for a one night stand?
By the way, the movie was not funny but quite pathetic, uneventful and unstimulating to my taste.
How about americans traveling in the Old World, obviously there’s much they would learn and it would surely be more stimulating, probably even captivating; partly based on the success of Mondovino, partly from intuition.
