Jeff Cohen of JC Cellars the 2005 Syrah Shootout Winner
Let’s get ready to rumble! It’s time for the Syrah Shootout.
The competition: It’s a non-commercial, blind tasting, amongst 38 winemakers. Attendance is limited to winemakers only. Thus, the wines submitted by the winemakers, are judged by their peers. While the competition is conducted with a spirit of friendly competition, make no mistake, these winemakers would love to claim bragging rights to claiming 1st place.
The competition was tough, all the wines were great. Hear interviews about the head to head battle and how it came out.
2005 Shootout Results:
- First Place: Jeff Cohen of JC Cellars
- Second Place: Pax Mahle of Pax Wine Cellars
- Second Place: Scott Hawley of Summerwood Winery

Guys, I had heard about Pax and JC Cellars, but I will have to add Summerwood and Big Basin to my list of “I have to have”. Thank you for a great show and the head up on these new wines.
