Judgement of Paris

A few decades ago it would have been absurd to suggest that a California wine could match the quality of a French wine. But in May of 1976 the wine world was changed forever due to the now famous Paris blind tasting. Nine French judges choose a California Red and White wine above its leading French contenders.

Today we sit down with George Taber, author of the new wine book: “Judgment of Paris”. George a reporter for Time Magazine represented the only press coverage for the event. Hear about this unbelievable story, the rise of California as a world power in wine and how the effects of the Paris tasting are still being felt today.

GrapeRadio at Dinner with EatFeed, Winecast, and CellarRat

This time of the year we are all thinking about the aromas of roasted turkey and fresh baked pies. It’s also time to start thinking about the wines you are going to pair with the meal to make it the best experience possible.

We were lucky enough to be joined by two guest today: Ann Bramely the Host of the award winning Podcast EatFeed and Joe Davis, Founder of Arcadian Winery. Our discussion includes eveything from pairing wines with deep fried turkey to standing rib roast.

Win a Wine Trip to France

Post this show to your favorite social network

GrapeRadio wants to let all of our listeners know that the trade organization “Wines of France” is sponsoring a contest, which is absolutely incredible. The contest is called “Fall for French Wines”. The grand prize is a fabulous trip for four to the vineyards of France.

The winner and 3 of his or her lucky friends will visit five French wine regions: Alsace, Burgundy, Rhone Valley, Provence and Bordeaux. In each region they will go out into the vineyards, meet the producers and of course taste the wines (which producers has not been determined). They will also get a designated driver in the regions so they can enjoy the wines. The trip has a value of $20,000, but in our opinion is priceless.

To enter, all you need to do is to describe in 75 words or less the first time you fell for French wines. To enter and for complete contest rules go to www.wines-france.us

It is really a trip of a lifetime!

There are lots of other prizes so good luck.
