2007 HdR “It’s Only Natural”

Continuing with seminars from the 2007 Hospice du Rhône, we hear from two wine producers who are making some terrific New World Rhônes, yet didn’t begin their winemaking careers that way.
John Alban moderates the discussion as we hear from two winemakers who are more interested in making fine wines than being conventional. Stephan Asseo wanted to escape the strict laws of grape growing and winemaking in the Old World of Bordeaux, founding L’Aventure Winery in Paso Robles. Andy Smith at DuMol has achieved a reputation for Burgundian varietals, and has now turned his attention to Viognier and Syrah. For them, it seemed only natural – to gravitate to Rhônes.

Just finished listening to this seminar, and I want these wines–NOW!! Great discussion of their stories and why they make their wines the way they do. I love these seminars…
Thanks for putting this together! It’s both intriguing as well as motivating to learn about such non-conventional approach to Wine Making. Can’t wait to taste one of these!
