This sort of interview is the principal reason for being discouraged v by grape radio. Thanks for the marketing over a fifty minute period. Why does krug charge as much as ten times more for vintage than what they claim as the principle goal of krug...non vintage?

Thanks for advertising guys...

Completely unrelated to this piece, but inspired by the high prices mentioned...
...when will you do an annual or semi-annual review of "best buys", or wines that from $20 taste as good or better than wines twice, three times, or even five (let's be reasonable) times their price.

A suggestion: sample a year's worth of Wine Spectator best buys -- maybe get them involved -- and compare to high-quality brand names at the higher price points. Say where they fall short, or where they excel, but if indeed this is the golden age of wine, some assurance, if merited, for the mid-range consumer would be valuable to the future wine market.

Or think of it another way. What is your Tuesday night red?

Wine merchants in London have a ready answer for me, and it ranges from France to Australia to Argentina (not US, although Columbia Crest would probably have some good candidates).

It may not cover the bulk of our spending, but it might cover a lot of what we drink.

Love the shows, no matter what the price points.
