Wine & Fire 2007 - Part I
The Sta. Rita Hills Winegrowers Alliance held its 2nd annual Wine & Fire event in June of 2007. The festivities began on Friday evening with a reception at the restored La Purisima Mission, where over two dozen winemakers poured library wines and current releases from their Sta. Rita Hills appellation. People mingled from late afternoon through dusk and into dark, sampling the various wines.
Join us at the opening night tasting as we talk with attendees, growers like Peter Cargasacchi, and producers like Norm Yost (Flying Goat), Peter Work (Ampelos), and Victor Gallegos (Sea Smoke) to hear how and why the Sta. Rita Hills is unique as a Pinot growing area.

Great coverage of a fantastic event. If it had not been your coverage of the first Wine & Fire event in 2006, I would not have heard about it. And, I am glad I did. The Reception under the Stars on Friday night must of had the stars aligned for a perfect event. Weather made to order, food, wine, entertainment, atmosphere, discussions; none better.
The Santa Rita Hills winemakers pulled out all the stops, worked their collective tails off to pull of a first rate event that showed the best that a California AVA has to offer. After going to this area, tasting their wines, experiencing their hospitality, and community, I have been cured of wanting to go to any of the more well known, commercially over-run, theme park wine areas that some of the other AVAs have become.
I am torn between wanting to tell everyone I know what a gem Sta. Rita Hills is, and keeping it to myself as my own little heaven
I was glad to see you guys there covering the event in 2007 too. Hope to see you there in 2009.
By the way, here are some more shots from the event.
