The Napa Road Show – Part 1

It’s always a pleasure to visit Northern California’s Wine Country. There’s so much to see and do – as well as taste and smell. With this in mind, we were quite pleased to accompany a small group recently, and head up to Napa and Sonoma to visit to with some familiar wineries; plus, we were able to make some new friends along the way.
Join us as we visit with Mary Rocca and Eric Grigsby of Rocca Family Winery, as well as their winemaker, Paul Colantuoni. We’ll also visit with John Komes and Sean Garvey to see what’s happening at Flora Springs, and then talk with Todd Graff from Frank Family Winery.

I’m a fan of graperadio, but it seemed that in this two-part series, you guys just took a free trip to Napa and did your job but didn’t seem that into it or the wines.
Cary,
Gee, I’m sorry that was your perception. FWIW, the trip was a blast, and I did enjoy the wines as well as the company. I wish that had come through more.
I was one of several media people, so we would take turns interviewing the winemakers and owners we visited. Unfortunately, many of the things we did including vineyard visits, blending trials, tastings and meals really didn’t get captured in the one-on-one interviews.
Perhaps this type of trip requires a different approach. Or, perhaps we just sent the wrong guy!
Eric
Hey Cary, Eric was the only one that got to go. He is our Napa/Sonoma main guy so it would be hard to imagine he was not loving every minute. FWIW, he kept calling me during the trip to say “guess what I am doing now”?
What do we sound like when we are really into a wine?
