Does Beaujolais have an emotional side? Guillaume de Castelnau certainly thinks so. As Director and winemaker of Château des Jacques, Maison Louis Jadot’s beautiful Beaujolais property, Guillaume is able to easily wax poetic about both the region but especially about the Gamay grape.

Located north of Lyon in eastern France, Beaujolais overlaps Burgundy in the north and the Rhône Valley in the south. Vineyards run along the Saône River, on mostly granite soils. Here, Beaujolais Crus such as Brouilly, Côte de Brouilly, Régnié, Morgon, Chiroubles, Fleurie, Moulin-à-Vent, Chénas, Juliénas and Saint-Amour, have the high ground just above the Beaujolais Village classification.

Join us as we talk with Monsieur Castelnau about the history, geology and wine of the region. It’s an interesting new perspective on one of the most affordable of French wine regions.
